James Wang
James Wang is the Principal Lawyer of James IP Lawyers and leads the practice with passion and a strong commitment to delivering exceptional legal services.
James brings to his legal career over 15 years of international experience in the commodity trade industry, having worked in China, Singapore, and Australia. His extensive commercial background and broad network across China and Southeast Asia provide him with exceptional commercial acumen and a deep understanding of business challenges.
With a Juris Doctor and Master of Laws from Monash University, as well as a Graduate Diploma in International Economic Law from the University of Melbourne, James is highly credentialed. He also holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Engineering from China and a Diploma in Business Management from Singapore, further showcasing his diverse academic background.
James has practiced extensively in property law, commercial law, and corporate law, representing over 1,500 corporate and individual clients during his career. He also has significant experience in commercial litigation, handling matters such as debt recovery, Owners Corporation disputes, contract disputes, trust disputes, shareholder disputes, and directors’ duties. His deep expertise enables him to deliver pragmatic and effective solutions across a wide range of complex legal matters.

Kevin Hon
Kevin Hon is a senior lawyer with James IP Lawyers, practicing as a barrister-at-law focusing on commercial and company matters.
Admitted to the Hong Kong Bar in 1990, his earlier practice is mixed and with extensive court work on a daily basis which honed his advocacy skills.Between 1997 and 2002, he worked in the top management as the General Counsel for a life insurance company which engaged in a number of regional joint ventures and mergers and acquisition projects. After the company’s IPO in 1999, he also took up the role of Deputy Compliance Officer responsible for reviewing transactional documents, advising on corporate matters, transactional structuring, strategic considerations and compliance issues.
After returning to private practice in 2002, his practice mainly focuses on advising on company matters, shareholders’ disputes, winding ups as well as commercial and corporate litigation / arbitration involving cross-border disputes and injunctions. He also regularly acts as an arbitrator or advocate in international arbitrations after becoming a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in 2013. Since April 2025, he also practices as a solicitor in Australia.
His strengths, in addition to the extensive knowledge and experience in litigation, lie in the understanding of the commercial objectives often not expressed in the legal language and the formulation of commercial solutions to cater for the particular scenarios.
